Shorts | Daily Docs

Following are a select few samples of the the mostly 2- to 3-minute short subject videos we’ve done for some businesses and organizations that are doing some really great stuff.

We refer to our short-form corporate and non-profit documentaries as “Daily Docs.” Not just because that’s an obvious brand name. One thing is that these are productions we typically shoot in a day (or even a few hours). But mainly it’s because we get the most enjoyment out of telling the stories of people and organizations who are incredibly passionate about what they do on a daily basis, committed to it, thriving with it, moving it ahead, and paying it forward every day.

Hats off to everyone out there living such fulfilling lives and doing so many great things. Chances are we’d love to tell your story. Say hello: success(at)dailybrandgroup.com.

CicLAvia 2012

This is a video we produced to highlight some of the community engagement aspects of CicLAvia in Los Angeles. Such a great event. Produced by Colin Mangham; directed, shot, and edited by Dariush Khansari.

Visions of Peace – Humanitarian Aid Mission (Middle East)

Shortform documentary we shot for humanitarian aid mission in Israel and the Palestinian territories, September 2010. Steve Robertson, Executive Producer (Project-Peace on Earth); Colin Mangham, Producer; Michael Garcia, Director and Camera; Todd Brown and Kenny Fields, Post-Production. This was in conjunction with two United Nations agencies, as well as several local corporate and non-profit partners. It features Dr. Paul Dougherty, who gifted his surgical services to restore vision for 40 indigent refugees.

Biomimicry at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Produced by Colin Mangham, then acting Chief Marketing Officer of Biomimicry 3.8 and its Institute. Shot and directed by Paolo Durazzo. Includes promotional footage from the film Second Nature: The Biomimicry Revolution (Guy Lieberman, Matt Rosmarin) which screened on two days of the festival, and was followed by Q&A with Colin and Taryn Mead, as well as a workshop with Taryn. Also includes speaking appearances by Colin Mangham, Taryn, Mead, Catherine Stifter, and Steven Katz (Mother Jones Magazine).

Check out more biomimicry shorts we’ve done here, plus a web series here.

5DAY Mission – Lebanon

This one was actually shot completely on an iPhone (720p HD) with an Owle Bubo wide angle lens mount as well as directional mic; also used a Steadicam Smoothee. We shot our main footage with a way more capable Panasonic HVX. But there were two things that were great about the iPhone. One was that it drew far less attention to the fact we were shooting video; this was rather helpful when trying to maintain a low profile walking through a refugee camp in Beirut. The other was that it was super easy to load into a Macbook and edit this piece for a banquet (United Nations & US Consolate) in the time it took to cross town in rush hour traffic.

Meleesa Salon

A short film we produced for a Huntington Beach salon. Focus was on their community involvement, including charity fundraisers and other benefits to the locals. We love short subjects like this that feel less commercial, less promotional, that instead spotlight some really great people who are doing good for not only their customers/clients but also their community at large. Produced by Colin Mangham; Directed by Dariush Khansari, with Mike Nedved as DP/Cinematographer.
